The Perfect Stocking Stuffer – Pela Case

The Perfect Stocking Stuffer – Pela Case

December 11, 2017

Whilst it may look like it, this is not a sponsored post, just an honest-to-god passionate post I’ve been wanting to write for some time now. I discovered Pela Case via another ethical blogger I follow on Instagram and wanted to give their phone cases a try for myself. At the heart of it, Pela is a company making the world’s first eco-friendly phone cases. Their cases are made from plant-based materials and are 100% compostable! I’m trying my darndest to reduce my footprint on the planet where possible and reducing my plastic use is one of my top priorities.

I’ve typically always owned either an Apple-brand phone case (solid colour) or Rifle Paper Co. phone cases that are plastic with pretty floral designs on them so I decided to order both the Rose Quartz and White Pela cases for my iPhone 6 as a comparison to my Apple cases. Pleasantly surprised would be my reaction to many of their qualities (that I’ll cover below) and absolutely fell in love with both cases.

Check out the video below for a quick overview of how the phones are made and why they are helping the planet! If you’re already sold and want to get yourself one stat (they’re only $35, which is comparable to any other case on the market!) then feel free to use this code to get 20% off your order: This is the perfect little ethical stocking stuffer for anyone on your list!

Some things I was concerned about: 1.) The feeling of the case. Was it going to feel too…earthy? Was it going to stick going in and out of my pockets? 2.) The colour duration. Would it fade quickly? 3.) Durability. As the clumsy person I am, I need something protecting my phone from all the daily dropping… Here is what I discovered:

1.) The feeling of the case is definitely unique, but not in a bad way. Just as my Apple cases felt completely different to my Rifle Paper Co. cases, my Pela case has its own texture on the backside. Besides that, it is thick (<– read strong not bulky), soft to touch, and pleasant to hold. It does not slip out of spaces nor does it get too stuck (i.e. in my jeans pocket or handbag pocket). Check.

2.) I ordered the rose quartz and white phone case covers. What was I thinking?! It just looked so pretty and clean against my gold phone that I thought it would look crisp. I was right. Besides the typical dark jeans stain that happens (this also occurs on any regular leather good – I know you ladies have had this happen to your handbags in the past!), it stays crisp white! Even if I did get a mark on it (like the dark jeans stain) it wipes off easily and the case is back to new. Check.

3.) Again, I’m a major klutz. My family calls me Klutzmantha on the daily. Dropping my phone just happens and thankfully I’ve never shattered any screens or had any major dings and the Pela case definitely ensures its protection. It’s flexible yet strong enough to be both gentle against your phone and tough on the ground when it inevitable lands there. Check.

Check. Check. Check. All of my requirements were met and I was a happy camper.

I recently received the iPhone X so I just ordered their new case in Lavender and am waiting with bated breath for it to arrive. I will be “re-gifting” my current cases to any friends/family who wants them! If no-one wants them (I already know two people who do, though) then they will definitely get put in the compost! Reduce, reuse, recycle, people!

Give your loved ones something they can feel good about. Use this code for 20% off: If you’re interested, I created holiday gift guides for both him and her with more Christmas gift ideas for you beautiful people!

Happy gifting 🙂
