Los Angeles Eats: Salt & Straw
August 31, 2017
I’m just going to throw it out there: Salt & Straw is my absolute favourite ice cream spot in Los Angeles. Salt & Straw has just perfected their flavours, consistency, and atmosphere. I mean, the line wrapping around their store front at all hours of the day (yes, all) is a dead giveaway.
Monthly Flavours – August
I was particularly excited to come to my local ice cream spot this day because they had just released their August flavours. There was one in particular I was keen to try: The Carrot Cake Batter and Hazelnut Praline. To. Die. For. I’m a huge carrot cake fan and, clearly, had to give this flavour a shot. I typically get the classic Roasted Strawberry & Toasted White Chocolate flavour, but was willing (ha!) to switch it up this day.
As you can see, a long line had already formed around their tres cool brick wall store front by the time we arrived. Fear not, it moved pretty quickly.
Located on the corner of Abbot Kinney and California Avenue, Salt & Straw could not get any more ‘LA’ with it’s Californian vibes and funky interior designs.
If you get hooked on their ice cream, you’re able to buy it by the pint. There is also a separate section beside the waiting line where you may purchase some of their specialty ingredients used in their flavours.
Perusing their menu is always so fun. The best part? No limit on how many flavours you can try! I mean it. The employees there NEVER huff, puff, sigh, or eye roll if you ask to try one more flavour. They genuinely enjoy letting you taste all their wonderful creations.
I ended up tasting the carrot cake flavour and falling in love. Naturally, I got a scoop on a waffle cone and devoured it within a few minutes. So tasty!
Yummy! I try not to make ice cream a regular visit, so when I do get it, I make it count!
If I’ve completely overlooked any other incredibly delicious ice cream places in Los Angeles that I need to try, please let me know. I do not mind playing guinea pig!
