Glossier Review

August 1, 2017

Let me preface this Glossier review by saying that I’m not one to pounce onto new makeup trends, however, there was something about Glossier’s products that had me wanting to jump on the band wagon. Although I rarely wear makeup anymore as I work from home curled up in my most comfy sweats and jumper, when I do wear it to go out, I love looking and feeling my best (with minimal effort!). My friends are constantly complimenting me on my abilities (all credit goes to YouTube videos and countless failed attempts hidden away in my bedroom!) so I wanted to share some of my favourite products and how I use them. Glossier was the first one to jump to mind because I became obsessed with one of their products very quickly and can’t seem to stop telling everyone to go give it a try!

When visiting Glossier’s minimal and easy-to-use website for the first time, I quickly decided to dive right into the products and buy myself the Glossier Phase 2 Set which included the Stretch Concealer, Boy Brow, & Generation G lipstick.

Naturally, the Stretch Concealer was the first product I tried as it’s applied at the beginning of my makeup routine. If you haven’t already noticed, I’m quite fair-skinned, so I got the Medium (2nd to lightest) colour. Their videos definitely helped me choose which colour to get!

I made sure to apply it on all the tricky spots (literally, spots)! This included my wonderful pimples and red colouration around my nose. The nice thing about this product, is you can really build with it. As you can see, I tend to just use my finger to get the right amount. It applies super smoothly! There’s definitely a noticeable colour difference when applied on a bare face. Once I put foundation on, however, it blends in beautifully. This might just be my colour, so I’m not sure if this happens with all shades.

Next product is by far my favourite of the lot! Boy Brow is truly the best thing in makeup since sliced bread. Doing my eyebrows has never been something I’ve particularly enjoyed. The art of colouring them in always intimidates me and so I never fully felt like they looked as good as they could, but just accepted that they looked good enough. I’m generally in a rush when doing my makeup so the Boy Brow is the easiest and most effective brow tool I’ve tried to date. The brown shade I got matches my eyebrows perfectly and blends incredibly well with all parts of my brow. Considering I’ve always set my brows with a gel brush after colouring them in, the Boy Brow is a two-in-one step making doing my eyebrows even quicker than normal. Truly obsessed.

Lastly, I got the Generation G lipstick in the colour Zip, which they describe on their site as a ‘poppy red.’

When I want a more natural look (which is what I was going for today) I tend to ‘dab’ on my lipstick rather than ‘swipe’ it on. I feel this gives my lips more of a tint of colour than a full block of shade. That’s exactly what I did with this Generation G Zip colour.

Overall, my thoughts on Glossier are very positive. The company definitely promotes a “less is more” mentality which is fantastic for my typical routine. I very rarely do a makeup look that takes more than 20 minutes, so the ease of use and ‘clean’ look these products give are exactly what I’m after! If I had to rank the products I purchased, I’d probably rank them as follows:

1.) Boy Brow

2.) Generation G Lipstick

3.) Stretch Concealer

The next Glossier products I’m keen to try are the Haloscope and Cloud Paint. Let me know if you’ve tried either and if you like them!

Love,

Saffy
