Preppy Winter Style
November 21, 2017
I decided to do a winter series showing you my go-to jackets/coats that I wear (or will wear) almost every winter. I’ve chosen three very different styles so hopefully there is something to please everyone. This outfit is what I would call my more preppy outfit. If you have lived on both coasts of the U.S., then you will definitely understand when I say that folks on the east coast dress more preppy than west coast folks. Having lived in Florida for a little over a decade, my wardrobe was definitely infiltrated with a few preppy pieces. Living in California for the past (almost) six years, has shaken my wardrobe up a wee bit and I love it even more.
Because I have such a mixed wardrobe and taste in clothes, I don’t fit neatly into a little bucket. I’m not preppy, nor do I have a strictly “Californian” style, nor am I minimalistic, I’m all of the above and that’s what I love about my style. Categorizing your style/brand is unfair and unrealistic. Embrace all sides of your personality and you’ll be uniquely you!
Right, enough of that tangent! Let’s talk about my preppy side shall we?
This jacket was a gift from my roommate! It was also a gift to her and just didn’t fit her quite right. When we moved in together she was doing a wardrobe clear out and asked if I’d like the jacket. Whilst it looks like a classic Burberry jacket, it’s not Burberry at all. What got me excited about this? It’s straight from the UK! Based on its label and stitching, I’m imagining it’s from a wee shop in the countryside where they sell tweed, bonnets, and canes. I truly feel like I scored a beauty out of pure luck! Thank you, Natalie!
I paired this with my typical go-to preppy winter look: Tory Burch riding boots and my Longchamp bag. The past two times I’ve been to Paris, I made a point to get myself a Longchamp (other bag last seen here) straight from the source. They’re cheaper in France than in the U.S. Now, I cannot vouch for their ethical production and in fact, this article does a good job explaining how they are made. I will say, these bags are to be kept for life and I definitely get wear out of this black one. It’s my daily bag that I pull from when switching outfits.

These Tory Burch boots were also purchased years ago. They are my only pair of boots (besides my favourite green Hunter welly boots) and practically go with any outfit. I’m on the search for an ethical pair of brown boots and have my eyes on these babies, but if anyone has any other ethical boot suggestions, I’m all ears!
This is a dead comfy outfit, practical, and chic all at the same time. What more could you possibly want? The entire outfit to be ethical! That’s my goal. In the meantime, I’ll wear these pieces to the ground without hesitation!
