Happy New Year, everybody! This is my first post of 2018 and it should probably be a more heartfelt one talking about my reflections on 2017 and goals for 2018 but, to be honest, I’m still figuring all of that out! Instead, I’m doing an outfit post covering layered jumpers and featuring my new Christmas present that I’m head over heels for! Reflections and sentimental posts to follow later. 🙂
As an ethical blogger, I strive to dig deep into my wardrobe and reuse as many pieces of clothing as possible. Most of the items I’m wearing below are 10+ years old with the exception of my new Christmas present.
This cream jumper/vest is from Abercrombie & Fitch that I got in high school. I have a thing for cream wool jumpers. Thankfully, my mum is an incredible knitter and has gifted me quite a few jumpers in my lifetime to keep me satiated. Abercrombie was my quintessential high school go-to store. I’m pretty sure I got this when I was a junior or senior in high school and I’ve struggled to part with it ever since.
Since Los Angeles has been quite warm this winter, I pieced together this outfit a little differently than usual. Typically I wear this jumper/vest (I’m going to call it a jumper the rest of the post because it’s really a mix and I don’t know the correct term!) with Uggs and a pashmina to add a little extra warmth & dimension to the look.
The long sleeve shirt underneath is from Target – again, 10+ years old. Any complimentary coloured shirt would work well underneath this jumper – I happen to have an obsession with natural colours (and, of course, green is my favourite).
The belt was… *drum roll* … my mother’s. 😀 I’ve also had this since I was in high school but this belt is at least three decades old. It perfectly cinches in baggy tops & jumpers while creating a waist where you couldn’t see one before.
These jeans are from DSTLD – I wore a white version of the DSTLD jeans here and here. They’re stretchy which makes them deceivingly flattering (I’m constantly complimented on my bum in these jeans even though you can’t see it in this post properly!). I don’t necessarily think they’re the most flattering (i.e. I love the way my bum looks in a good pair of Levis) but you cannot beat comfy jeans!
Onto my Christmas present: these Everlane Chelsea Boots that I’ve had my eye on for over a year now! Eddie spoiled me with them for Christmas and they are one of my favourite presents! Not only are they bloody comfortable, but they are also totally stylish, ethical, and adaptable to many different outfits. I actually wore them in this previous post while showing you my Ankura camel coat and they’ve since gotten plenty of use!

Layering pieces is not only fun to do, but you can also get more use out of your closet than you otherwise could wearing pieces only a few times and only during specific seasons. These layers are perfect for sunnier days that are still crisp.
