Monthly Playlist – February (Valentine’s Day Edition)
February 12, 2018
Firstly, for anyone who was waiting with baited breath for my January Monthly Playlist (& I’m sure there were plenty! har har) sorry for missing it. January was a manic month for me and I’m (sort of) starting to feel normal again. Here’s December’s in case you missed that and are still feeling in the Christmas spirit. February’s Monthly Playlist is, you guessed it, Valentine’s Day themed. BUT, it’s not just filled with sappy, lovey-dovey, make-you-want-to-vomit love songs. This playlist is sure to appeal to all stages of love: heartbreak, honeymoon-phase, or that ever-lasting kind.
The older (and, hopefully, wiser) I’ve gotten, the more complex my take on love is. It’s no longer black and white like it used to be. It’s complicated, hard, and bloody worth it when it’s right. Thankfully, I’ve found someone whom I’m planning on spending the rest of my life with, but I can promise you, our love is not always easy. Stripping away any social media facades is imperative for the truth to be seen and I owe it to everyone reading this blog to be as truthful as possible. I’m sure it’s safe to say that most people have listened to love songs and have cried, smiled, felt filled with love, or felt completely empty inside. This playlist is for you.
I love love, and I love being in love, but I also love the vulnerability of it. (<– say that 4 times fast!) I think heart break and struggle makes us feel more alive. It makes us appreciate life that much more. I’m a lucky gal to be spending my fourth Valentine’s Day with Eddie and I hope you all have wonderful plans whatever they may be. We’ll actually not be doing anything alone tomorrow for the first time in our 4 years together. Rather, we decided to host a potluck at our house for all our friends! There will be about 12 people bringing over food to laugh, dance, drink, eat, be merry, and love on one another all night. Because love isn’t just in romantic relationships, it’s all around us! (I sound like the intro to Love Actually).
Enjoy this (tres random) playlist and have a beautiful Valentine’s Day with those you love most!
