Rosas y Xocolate, Merida – Boutique Hotel
July 4, 2018
One of the benefits of my job is that I get to travel for work. Not too frequently and not always to exotic places, but last month I got to visit Merida (for the first time in 3 years) for a work trip. Truthfully, I was nervous to go because the last time I came back with (TMI) bubble gut and I was not looking forward to another round. Thankfully, that didn’t happen on this trip (disclosure: I purposefully didn’t eat vegan out of fear of Montezuma’s Revenge Part II and, therefore, ate only cooked food which included meat…) and I left Mexico unscathed.
Right. Now that the gross stuff is out of the way… I decided to stay the weekend after my work meetings and explore Merida. I put myself up at a couple of boutique hotels in the area and wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I’d never stayed in a boutique hotel before – I typically stay at a hotel or an AirBnb (like these). My experience in Merida changed my perspective on travel and I refuse to lodge any other way if possible! Boutique hotels for the win!
Merida is such a colourful city but even Rosas y Xocolate stands out from the main street.
The first night I stayed at Rosas y Xocolate (yes, Roses & Chocolate) which was an entirely pink boutique hotel!
There were two walls in the entire hotel that had yellow and it contrasted so beautifully with the pink.
Chillin’ out, maxin’, relaxin’ all cool in my Kulani Kinis one piece.
I was so fortunate to have a beautiful view outside my window… even with the rain that came!
My room was splendid but I think my favourite part by far was the bathroom…
L’Occitane products?! Yes please!
OUTSIDE BATHTUB?! Is this real life?
With an open skylight & view of the beautiful Merida sky.
Now this is how you switch off, relax, listen to the birds and soak in the sweet aroma of Merida.
I bumped into the owner twice during my stay and he was adamant that I reach out if I needed anything. Everyone here was so incredibly friendly and made my stay a total pleasure. I’d highly recommend staying at Rosas y Xocolate if you visit Merida. Also, how ridiculously Instagrammable is this place?! You’re welcome.
